Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Meet our AC Chair

Paul Aspin - Chair of the Academy Council

I was born and raised as a Man of Kent having been schooled in Folkestone before going to Kings College, London University.  I come from a corporate background, having joined IBM in 1963 around the time when commercial computers were starting to appear and spent 38 years with the company, mainly in sales and marketing in the UK with clients covering all industries.  I then spent three years based in Italy running the Mediterranean countries plus Pakistan and South Africa as a Director of Solutions Marketing for the European Finance Sector.  I was tempted out of retirement to run the East Caribbean operations for Cable and Wireless and finally stopped working for money in 2006.

I have a wife, three sons and four grandsons. I have been a Trustee of a number of charities both local and national. One of my greatest interests is the development of young people, many of whom need help to understand their own true potential and how to make the most of it. My involvement with the Academy goes back four years and whilst there remains much to do I am delighted with the progress which has been made since becoming part of the Oasis Family.  We are keen on pushing progress and with my fellow Academy Councillors, will challenge and support the Principal and the staff at Oasis Isle of Sheppey to ensure that our young people receive the very best education possible.  It is important that we all work together to give our young people the knowledge and skills needed to lead full and successful adult lives.
