"Being a peer mentor makes me feel a part of something, I feel included and more confident about being who I am. I really enjoy helping others as seeing others smile makes me smile, we're like a little family." Poppy, Year 10
Year 9 and 10 students are trained by Swale Youth to support younger students and meet with them regularly to discuss any questions or concerns. They also receive anti-bullying and restorative approaches training.
Our students are an integral part of our academy events, such as parent evenings and open evenings. They work tireless to support staff and guide parents, we are eternally grateful to them and are thankful to them for volunteering.
Lillie Gammon, year 10 won silver in this year’s Swale Youth Boost Awards for leading the Peer Mentoring team. The same award was won by Charlotte Cruickshank last year.
The Diana Awards definition is “Repeated negative behaviour that is intended to make others feel uncomfortable or unsafe”
It is worth remembering that not all incidents of unkind comments or actions are defined as bullying behaviour. However, all incidents that are reported to us will be dealt with in accordance with our Behaviour policy.
