Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Key Stage 4

Deciding which subject to study at Key Stage 4 can be a daunting experience and our aim is to help and support students, in consultation with their Parents and Carers, in making the best decisions so that each individual student follows a pathway suited to their abilities, interests and talents.

The curriculum is designed to cater for all abilities and we are able to offer flexibility within the timetable to provide many pathways to success.  The Academy offers guided choices to ensure our students achieve their full potential.  An information evening is held during the Spring Term in Year 8 during which the process is explained.   Our KS4 Pathways Booklet provides information on our curriculum offer and option choices for 2018-19.

The KS4 Curriculum content page provides a detailed breakdown of topics studied within each subject on a term by term basis.

Year 10 Work Experience

All Year 10 students are invited to participate in a work experience programme during Term 6.  The initiative is designed to give students a taste of work and to broaden their horizons for future career prospects. Students are able to select from a wide choice of companies and organisations to get a feel of working within that industry and professional environment. Students may already have an idea of the career pathway they wish to follow and would use this opportunity to gain a taster in a true professional setting before pursuing their goals through education or apprenticeships; or they may be undecided and would welcome the chance to expand their visions for a better informed choice at KS5. Liaising with local businesses, our students gain an understanding of job opportunities and scope in the local area.

Students may choose to either find their own placements or select from a number of placements offered to the Academy via the Medway Education and Business Partnership (MEBP).   MEBP work with us to certify that all placements receive a Health and Safety visit to ensure that the working environment is suitable and safe for our students.  Employers must also have both Public and Employers Liability Insurance.
