Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey Sixth Form (OAIOS) has a highly successful, forward thinking student community, with high expectations. Ofsted judged our Sixth Form ‘Good’ noting that “leaders have ensured that the 16 to 19 study programmes offer a wide range of courses at different levels for students”. They said “teachers in the sixth form know their students well and have good subject knowledge. They plan well-structured activities that both challenge pupils and ensure that they understand complex ideas and concepts.” (Ofsted, July 2019)
Choosing your Sixth Form is an important decision and students need to find the place that best suits your interests, skills and talents and prepare you for your next step, whatever that might be. Our main goal is to prepare students to be happy and successful adults in whatever you choose to do and ensure that you are ‘life ready’ by the time you leave.
OAIOS Sixth Form has 200 places and offers a mix of traditional A Levels and BTECs alongside a number of specialist pathways focusing on Dance, Football and Health & Social Care.
Alongside academic qualifications, through our tutorial & enrichment programme, we will help students to develop life skills such as team-working, excellent communication skills and determination; all of which are vital skills for students to be successful in life and work. We have an excellent working relationship with the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University which enable students to benefit from university library facilities and online mentors. We also offer a bespoke Careers Advice and Guidance programme to ensure all student pathways are well supported in terms of ultimate destinations. This may include arranging specialist work experience or shadowing experience for vocational based undergraduate degrees such as Nursing and Primary Teaching. Most recently our Business Studies students completed work experience at a range of Lloyds Bank branches in Kent. Our Health & Social Care students take a lead role in organising and facilitating our termly award winning Dementia Café for local residents. This year we were delighted to host a specialist Health & Care Careers Fair working in conjunction with over twenty delegates representing the Health & Care sector. Some of our more academically focused students are taking part in the new Futures First initiative that provides access to online Mentors plus a guaranteed week long residential trip to our most successful universities, Oxford or Cambridge. An exciting opportunity that we are very proud to be able to offer our students.
We are an exciting and fast moving Sixth Form and we would love you to join us. For more information or to arrange a visit please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
